“The Sun lights fill the air” Sketches Pro on iPad, 2018
A planet or the Moon within 16 minutes of a conjunction with the Sun is said to be cazimi which is a very fortunate position for a planet. The angular distance corresponds to the apparent diameter of the Sun, which is 32′. It seems that various astrologers use cazimi by longitude although some approve cazimi both by longitude and latitude as Bonatti mentioned.

Al Biruni (11th cent.)
If a planet should be within less than 16′ of conjunction with the sun or have passed it by less than the same amount, it is designated as satin[cazimi]. The superior planets, however, are only in such a position in the middle of their direct course, while the inferior planets are in it in the middle of their direct and retrograde courses, (p.73, Article:481)
– The Book of Instruction in the Elements of the Art of Astrology

Guido Bonatti (13th cent.)
And when it is with the Sun in one degree, so that there are 16′ or less between them, both by latitude and longitude (which rarely happens), it is said to be united, and then it is made strong, because it is said to be in Sun’s forge, that is, in his heart. And many of those dealing with the stars, and particularly in my time, agreed in this, that when a planet is distant from the Sun by 16′ or less, it is made strong, and is said to be in the heart of the Sun. Indeed I am in agreement with them, but not purely and simply. Because for a planet to be in the forge or in the heart of the Sun, it is necessary that it be distant from the Sun by less than 16′ according to longitude and latitude– and this was the intention of the philosophers. (p.212)
– Bonatti on Basic Astrology
Bonatti on Basic Astrology (p.212)
William Lilly (17th cent.)
A Planet is in the heart of the Sun, or in Cazimi when he is not removed from him 17 min. or is within 17 min. forward or backward, as Sun in 15.30 Taurus, Mercury 15.25. of Taurus: here Mercury is in Cazimi, and all Authors doe hold a Planet in Cazimi to be fortified thereby; (p.113)

Christian Astrology Book1 (p.113)
when a Planet is within 16 minutes of the Sun, he is said to be in Cazimi, or heat of the Sun, and then it’s an addition of fortune, and he is wonderous strong. (p.300)

Olivia Barclay (1919-2001)
Orbs are considered according to the planet rather than to the aspect. An orb is like an aura around a planet. Opinion varies about the exact orb. The Sun has a large orb, 15 degrees to 17 degrees, but this only means 7 degrees to 8 degrees on each side of the Sun. Such a half-measure of the whole an orb is called the moiety of the orb. Any planet within an orb of 8 degrees of the Sun and in the same sign is called combust. Its strength is sapped by the Sun — unless the planet involved is Mars. The Moon is particularly debilitated when combust. On the other hand, it is interesting to note that any planet at the very heart of the Sun, within 17 minutes of its center, is called cazimi and is considered most fortunate. (p.86)

Any planet within a seventeen minute orb (behind or in front) of the Sun is said to be greatly strengthened. Gadbury* tells us that a planet in this position is said to be cazimi or corde solis and that all astrologers believe a planet to be “fortified” in this position. It is, without a doubt, a very fortunate position for a planet. It’s possible that Mercury in this position in a Nativity confers high intelligence. (p.138)

* John Gadbury (1627–1704)
Horary Astrology Re-Examined (p.138)
I would suggest that most planets are very strong being cazimi, but I do not have an example which would confirm that the Moon and Venus acquire this extra strength being cazimi.

Petros Eleftheriadis (Present)
As for cazimi, I cannot say for certain whether it needs to be both by latitude and longitude. I have two examples, one is cazimi by longitude and the other cazimi both by longitude and latitude. They both seemed to work, although other testimonies were also present. (p.10)
– Horary Astrology – The practical way to learn your fate

John Frawley (Present)
In the center of combustion there is a tiny oasis called cazimi, or in the heart of the Sun. To be cazimi a planet must be within 17 1/2′ of the Sun’s position – though actually measuring half minutes is being far too precious. While combustion is the worst thing that can happen to a planet, cazimi is the best: a planet cazimi is likened to a man who is raised up to sit beside the king. If you are the king’s favourite, in his bosom, you have great power. To be cazimi a planet must be in the same sign as the Sun. (p.70-71)
– The Horary Text Book Revised Edition

Cazimi is the accurate conjunction which is a very fortunate position for a planet. From ancient times, it is said metaphorically: “a man who is raised up to sit beside the king.” Its angular distance, which is 17′ on one side, corresponds to the apparent diameter of the Sun. In the classical texts, it is written as 17′ radius in an ordinal number nevertheless it is 16′ in a cardinal number. (p.90)
– Stairs to The Stars I – Mystery of the firmament

Cazimi both by longitude and latitude
I took the following two pictures in 2012. The first one is a solar eclipse. The second one is the transit of Venus across the face of the Sun, which rarely happens as Bonatti indicated, when in cazimi both by longitude and latitude, and it occurs at inferior conjunction.

Comprehensive analysis from a multitude of ancient astrological studies. On the search for answers to my own placements, it is unclear whether interpretations remain if longitude and latitude are not both within 17″ of one another, but nonetheless the longitudal conjunction occurs each year, while the co-presence of latitudal is much rarer. In any case, findings point toward the fact that the archetypal co-presence by sign is sufficient enough for the inferior planet to be uplifted by the king (Sun). There is a certain level of blessings that are received in this native’s lifetime, often just in the nick of time. For myself, it is placed in the twelfth house of isolation, solace, and hidden attributes; it took quite some time past my own adolescence to discover and own my own inner light. No amount of external compensation could supersede the internal mental workings at play. Like the universe, the subconscious is much larger and infinite than we can fathom; for these individuals specifically, it seems as though embracing a spiritual path can offer access to the wells of the subconscious mind.
